About us:

I have been asked why did you start this club Wendy? and I reply " because I want to be able to share the enjoyment and knowledge of owning or, just being involved with horses”.

I have over the past 25 years been keeping my own horses. I have kept them mostly on my own on DIY, this having certain advantages being of less cost and no one borrows things that don't come back! You often ride out on your own and have no one to share the every day tasks such as a quick feed when passing your field. When you are ill or away who is to be trusted to care for their needs? Its times like these when you needs buddies to offer support and advice. You carry on with your passion often solo never having the opportunity to find out about that new farrier or riding instructor now working in the area and when can you take your horse to take part in any training sessions and can you even afford the cost? All this and not knowing of different places to ride safely if any at all.

As a  new club in only 3 months together we have formed our committee from local riders who have many skills and experiences, joined up with 2 qualified riding instructors and had fun on our December fancy dress parade in Alkborough and raised cash to be used throughout this year to support events and outings. We welcome all adults who have in interest in gaining skills, experience and offering our own experience as buddies and in joining in lots of fun.

If you regularly compete with your horse that’s fantastic! Did you ever think that you could become a roll model or mentor for others to learn from your own success story??  They may even wish to lean by helping you as a groom when you’re preparing for that important show, yes another pair of hands better still UNPAID helpers. You can still enjoy our groups outing and activities, its good networking too enjoy a glass of plonk and a nosh down at a local pub with friends who are interested in your success story.
