Alkborough Choir was started by a group of ladies who ‘just wanted to sing’ in September 1983, and they haven’t stopped singing since. It has developed into a mainly unaccompanied mixed voice choir over the years and has 23 members.
The choir is always ready to welcome new members. You don’t have to be able to read music, though it does help if you can ‘follow the black dots’. We don’t audition but we ask prospective members to come for a few weeks on a trial basis, they can look at us and we can look at them, and if everyone is happy they become members after that.
Jane Key is our very talented Conductor/Musical Director.
The choir meets every Friday evening during winter months from early September to the end of May at the Methodist Chapel, Alkborough at 7.30pm. We have short break at around 8.30pm and finish rehearsing at around 9.30pm. Prospective members can be assured of a warm welcome.
